How are your Intentions going from the New Year? 🎉
One of my intentions, was to write a blog more often … THAT fell off, but instead of giving up hopelessly, I’m beginning again.
I had intentionally given myself some space and time to be. I guess I’d given myself permission to break away from a lot of “otta’s”, “shoulds” and “pushing energy”.
I was inspired by a group conversation I was part of a while back. Someone used the phrase, “doubting doubt”.
Doubting the doubt. Questioning the doubt.
It resonated and I wanted to share it with you.
My work for the last 10 years has been around how to align ourselves with our Inner Wisdom, giving ourselves kindness so the kindness we already share with others is more sustainable.
Before I came to coaching I called myself the Queen of Self-Doubt.🫅🏼 It was a very uncomfortable title and role, detrimental to moving forward. Now realize this doubting voice was really pointing me to my values of “excellence”, “humility”, and “open-mindedness”. 🤨
And then in the months following The Doubt, swallowed me whole.
What I wasn’t aware how much my AVOIDER saboteur feeds on doubt! As doubt seeped in the Avoider got louder and louder until I just “forgot” and neglected tasks like newsletters.
Inner messages of Doubt really feasted on my intentions, Messages like: “Do they even read it?”, “Is it interesting?”, Is it relevant?” “Is it worth the time?”, “Am I worth the time”? bla bla bla One of the 4 Deadly “D”s
So there became a long pause ⏸️- not the healthy kind where your notice, name and figure out the need, no this pause was a total stoppage and avoidance! But I’ve renewed the mindset that everything is a gift or opportunity.
In these past months I have been participating in a course that went deeply into Positive Intelligence, PQ. I’ve been following this author, Shirzad Chamine, for 10 years. His book solidified what I wanted to focus on in coaching; the inner critics in our minds and how to calm then down and turn them into allies. It has been a deep dive and I want to share some of it with you.
In coaching clients, I’m pretty good at detecting THEIR saboteurs and encouraging the client to see what 10% of truth they might consider.
Saboteurs 👹
We’ve all got them especially the JUDGER. Judging ourselves, others and situations. It’s a function of our survival brain and negativity bias. This Judger is an expert at lobbing demeaning comments that bring up embarrassment and cringe.
But my own have shape shifted from loud and accusatory to a seductive whisper.
I’m presently in a course with Shrizad.
This is a deeper dive and I’ve become aware that my “Sage” or what I have always called my “Wise One Within” has been patiently waiting for me as I bob and weave to avoid my Avoider!
My negativity bias blinded me to concentrate more on the inner Critics more than our “Wise One Within”,
Until NOW!
This course has given me techniques to strengthen my Wise One’s influence. Getting deeper into the wisdom that everything is a gift or opportunity. Really looking for the gifts of Knowledge, Power and Inspiration!
So the AVOIDER is shrinking right now as I attend to this newsletter and NOT PUT IT OFF again.
There’s a wonderful assessment on Shrizad’s website that will rank all 9 of these accomplice saboteurs.
I have written about it before, – when we are AWARE of it, we can TAKE CARE of it. This assessment is that awareness too.
Exactly a year ago I wrote a post about perfectionism. In terms of Saboterus, it is known as the Stickler Saboteur.
If you want to know more about your saboteurs (all 9) and how to get more self-command and use the 5 Powers of your Sage, Wise One, Contact me, and we’ll get started.
I’d love to share these techniques and awarenesses.
