What’s Top of Your List?

Feline with distinctive fur pattern

Miss Dee Dee has it right.

There is no question in her mind what she needs and how to get it and at the right time.

No amount of ignoring or pacifying her will put her off. Here, she prioritizes a s t r e t  c h. (Yes, do take a moment right now, give yourself a stretch…Ahhhhh)

When she wants to eat she gets right in my face and waits.

She needs food and she lets me know!

How do your needs communicate with you?📢

Do they get right up in your face? Do you pay attention??

Miss Dee Dee knows what she needs.

😬How often do you notice you are listless, filling your day with busyness, knowing there is something missing but not stopping to ask “What do I need in THIS moment?”

And realistically, “others” priorities can take precedence.

Until now.

A good question to ask in that moment is, “Am I hungry, angry/anxious, lonely or tired?

✋🏼The pause in HALT lets you come to THIS moment and decide.

Miss Dee Dee knows how to get that attention.

Now her method is to sit right in front of me, feet together, eyes locked on me.  With a raise of her paw, she touches my shoulder or starts kneading. And if that doesn’t work, she does it again, and again, and again.

Our inner selves need that SAME attention.

But how often do you, as I do with Miss Dee Dee, gently ignore her request, even putting her on the floor, because “I’m in the middle of something”?🤯

😾Because often that request from within gets lost in the clamour of what I’m presently doing. (priorities)

Miss Dee Dee hangs around until her need gets met or she goes to the next person who is available. She makes her need her top priority.

➬What if you decided what the highest, well-being priority for yourself was for the day, and put it front and centre where you are reminded of it, along with a plan to meet it.

📝Sticky notes, alarm on your clock, set a timer…⏱

Miss Dee Dee like most cats, once they get what they need and want, go curl up  and sleep.

But if I’m sitting down I will shortly have a cat on my lap or even around my neck.  The purring and nuzzling wins me over every time.

Attention. Recognition. Reward.

What beneifts come to you when you care for yourself?

How can we improve our attention, focus our recognition and gain the rewards?

Well go to your body.  Your body never lies.  How does it feel  when needs are recognized and attended to?

Take the time to remember the sensations, the feelings of contentment, the confidence in your body from the inside out.  Purrrrring come to mind?

So how ‘ARR’ (attention, recognition, reward) you doing?

How ‘ARR’ you meeting your needs?

Which one is wanting your attention, recognition right now?

My stomach is growling, and it’s time to take a break, move and eat AND have some water!

If I let Perfectionism be my prioirty, it will keep me looking outward, distracted, pushing and punishing myself.
